She can choose to go to whatever OB or midwife that she chooses (if she is on an insurance plan, she needs to make sure her insurance covers her chosen dr), and if she doesn't like the one she chooses first, she can change.

You sound a little like my boyfriend. He was convinced that I needed a female OB... Until he met her. She was a hateful woman who suggested I have an abortion, which I do not beleive in.

We changed doctors, and this time it was a group of three male OB/GYN's and one female midwife. They were all wonderful, and I saw the midwife mostly, but ended up with one of the male dr.'s having to do a c-section.

The first appointment is wonderful, because (at least, my dr did) you will have your first ultrasound. Depending on how far along she is, you may be able to see the baby or it's heartbeat. Don't be alarmed if you don't see the heartbeat yet, though, because it doesn't start right away.

I was 10 weeks at my first appointment, and we were able to see the heart beating and the little arm and leg buds moving a tiny bit.

Good luck and congratulations!

In most cases she gets to choose her own doctor. The only time she wouldn't be able to pick her doctor is if she was being seen in a clinic or something like that. Express your concerns with you girlfriend. She can pick any doctor she wants and if she wants a male doctor than let her have a male doctor. My fiance met my doctor before we got pregnant because I had had surgery. They got to sit down and talk before and my doctor jokes around a lot with us. I think it makes my fiance more comfortable with me having a male doctor. I've had both male a female doctors and actually prefer males because they seem to be more compassionate. If the doctor is a male, then sit down and talk to him about your concerns and most likely he'll make you feel more comfortable.

Congratulations on your new baby!

What difference does it make? A doctor is a doctor, and a vagina does not make a doctor a good or bad one. Your girlfriend doesn't have anything a male doctor hasn't seen before, so what are you so worried about? As long as he knows what he's doing, that's all that matters in the long run.

My doctor is male (I am female) and I think he's great. He's better than any female doctor I've ever had. Anytime I've had a female doctor, they're been rude and presume things they shouldn't presume; they always seemed too busy to help.

man . women or even monkey i dont care who i see as long as they are good and gonna look after me and my baby the best they can, i think it should be the choice of your g/f but saying that as long as shes getting the best care does it really matter?
what if its a male doctor/midwife that has to deliver the baby at the end anyway??
good luck hope she gets what she wants

Sounds like you need to see a doctor about your insecurities. The best obgyn's I have ever had were males. They see enough pussy everyday, they certainly aren't going to single out your pregnant girlfriend.

If there is a choice of doctors, yes, she may request a female doctor.

i think it is Wise if she has a female doctor because then she and the doc can relate to what is going on with the baby inside her. i think you should tell her that and maybe she would understand.

Well if she already had an appointment then the choice has already been made. If she decides to change it then she can. It is still early enough to.
