generally 2 terms of 4 years, but if a person is vicepresident and becomes president with less than 2 years to go, that person can run twice, so there is a maximum of 10 years minus 1 day potentially
the candidates are voted per state, and the winner per state gets that states electorate votes
if a candidate gets half of the electoral votes plus 1, he is elected president

President Bush wasn't elected into office. His brother helped cheat the electorial voting system in Florida. Right?
