Hey my name is Andrea and I'm about 4 weeks pregnant. I was just wondering, sometimes when I laugh hard or sneeze my lower stomach tenses up? Is that normal? My Mother suggested that maybe it tenses up cuz I'm carrying down low. Anyone else feel similar when they were/are pregnant?

Maybe you are just noticing it more because you are pregnant.
This is common for most people, no matter if pregnant or not.
Just most don't notice.
The baby is only 2wks old and is right now called a embryo since most Dr's count from your LMP so still in a egg stage.
So way to small to make any differance as far as coughing/sneezing goes. Or to tell where you will carry the baby, since at your stage they all are low.
The uterus doesn't give grow past your belly button till past 20wks.
But once you are further along, you might notice it is even tighter when you sneeze cough and you will also leak.
For me, I found holding my lower stomach in the early months
helped with the soreness I got when I did it.
Which is due to the muscles in the lower stomach expanding my Dr told me.

My stomach tenses up every time I sneeze. I think it happens to everyone when they sneeze whether they are pregnant or not. I do have sharp pains in my stomach when I sneeze and those are round ligament pains. Anytime you move too fast, cough, sneeze, or stretch too far you'll feel the sharp pains that last for only a few seconds. Congrats!

if your 4 week s pregnant that means you just found out what today. I doubt your stomach tensing while sneezing has anything to do with it.

I don't think your baby is carrying low as it is very early to tell that you are only 4 weeks. but I am pretty sure it is common to tense when one sneezes.

If your lower tummy turns rock hard and goes on for about 30 seconds to a minute, then I would say braxton hicks contractions, otherwise, lighten up. 4 weeks aint about nuttin yet.

Yeah it's perfectly normal. Even when your not pregnant. You just notice it more because your muscles are stretching.

yeah, it happens to everyone, even if they are not pregnant. you just feel it more, b/c your muscles are stretching.
