Pick couple of your strong points, connect them with how they can be useful in the new job. Tell them that you enjoyed the interview, thank the person, say that you are eager about the position (if you really mean it), and then ask when you can hear back from them. Ask for their business card or email address so that you can send them a thank you note.

Ive heard the best way is to ask, "what's the next step or phase of the interview process or when can I expect a follow up?" That way, the employer sees that you are determined to go to the next level.

You are the interviewer? If you are, then it is best to end the session by saying something directly/indirectly to your interviewee how he/she actually went through the interview.
