I found something online that says you measure under the bust and add 5 and then measure the fullest part and the difference between the two numbers is your cup size. I measured 27inches, I add 5 and get 32. Then I measured around the fullest part and got 31. there is no way I wear size -A. What's going on here? I usually buy size 34b but I just want to know if that's right,.

Ok, let me explain.

Cup A, B, C, D, E, F, G and etc is the boobs' sizes. It means the bigger alphabet you've got, it shows the bigger your breasts are.

Size 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44 and etc is the measuring from the rib cage, wrap the measuring tape around your back to the front of your breasts & nipples, right underneath your armpits, it will be the measurent of both breasts' length including your waist line, it's measured in Inches. It means the smaller the number you've, it shows the smaller or narrower your breasts' length and waist line is.
In case, you see number like 70, 75, 80, 85, 90 and etc. It doesn't mean your breasts' length & waist line is huge. The numbers are just measured in different matrical units.

So for
Example 1: Cup C, Size 36 = Big breasts size
Example 2: Cup E, Size 32 = Very Enormous breasts size
Example 3: Cup D, Size 44 = Normal breasts size
Example 4: Cup A, Size 32 = Small breasts size

The problem is it's difficult to measure yourself. Even though you feel like you're holding things level, you can be adjusting your size just by raising your arms. You'll get a much accurate reading from having someone else handle the tape.

Also, some women only need to add 2-3 inches. If you're "plus-size", you don't need to add those 5 inches.

Nordstrom has a great fitting service as well, but basically it comes down to your breast shape and what fits you comfortably. A specialist can help you find good choices.

To heck with all that. You know what your cup size is unless you're into double D's. It is the measurement around your back, right underneath your boobs that gives you the number 32, 34, 36, etc. The easiest and funnest way is to go to Fredericks of Hollywood and have them fit you. Then you will know for sure. Heck with all that math junk. If the bra fits? Wear it! LOL!

You are doing it right, but measuring with a measuring tape is not an exact science. It's more of a guide or estimate as to what you're exact bra size is. Your best bet is to go to a Victoria's Secret and just have them measure you for free and then go from there. Good luck!

I use to fit people at a store where we specialized in fitting for bras. The best fit will be this way. . .
measure around your rib cage, all around your back to the front of your chest, right underneath your arm pit, it will be above your breast, and this will tell you your meauserment around, if it's like a 33, then round up to a 34, other than that, you don't have to add anything. then get the tape and measure from the crease of your breast(lower, where it ends) to your nipple, and if it's like 4 inches, then count ABCD and you would be a 34D, if it's 2 inches, it will be a B, see? and there it is.

This works perfect, I promise

i'm actually a bra specialist at victoria's secret. I would say you are either a 32 A or 32 B. I could tell you how to measure (actually you are doing it right) but basically it just comes with practice. There are rules, but depending on the woman, most of the rules are useless. Your best bet is to go to Victoria's Secret and have them measure you for free.

the links below i have used before. But if you have a victorias secret in your area, they will do a measurement for you for free. I had to have them do it for me because half of the stuff online makes no sence to me. Or if you have any lingerie store in your area(i only say this cause i dont know the city you are in), they can help you too!!
