I agree with Trey. It means third after all. You could also break the tradition a bit and give a middle name. There is no name police to say "it's not exact; he can't be the third."

If he's really deadset on Raul III you could call the kid Trip or Trace (spanish tres americanized), that's super cute. I always thought that was a really cool name for a boy. You could also give him a middle name and then call him by his middle name. Like Raul Morrison or Raul Macon. That wouldn't be so bad, would it? Then you'd both get what you want.

i guess the name "raul" is a form of tradition that has been inherited by the family that needs to be carried on..
im guessing you love the "Rauls" you know would you want to carry on the love? or create a new identity for your new born child?
i suggest talk it out with your hubby if he wants to change the name and you want to i suggest you do.. theres nothing wrong with being an individual neither is it to continue a trend..
there can never be too many Rauls:P
not unless you want to stop them too
Good luck!

The son after the jr would be called 3rd (Sr, Jr, 3rd) and by the way isn't hubby too old to be called Raulito....? We usually call the baby or the small child a diminutive form of the name like that....

I had a simular situation when my son was born a few months ago.....my hubbys name is Mario...lol tons of Marios out there rt? We went back and forth about it because id had my heart set on another name since i was a little girl....in the end we made "Mario" his middle name, and the name i chose his first name, because after a serious debate, i reminded him that this child was passing throu "my" body, and that "Id" bee the one carrying the extra weight, this lack of oxygen, and insomnia for the past couple of months, so i over-ruled all other options... Fortunately ive got a very thoughtful, considerate, and wonderful husband who did everything in his power to make sure my pregnancy run smoothly and that i was happy and stress free, and didnt let any machismo get in the way.
good luck

Could you legally name him Raul Jr. but go by his middle name? That way he's keeping the family name, but you can call him something else.

I too would suggest that you go with a middle name and call him by that or use the nick name "trey" meaning 3. I believe its from the spanish language for the number 3. Raul sounds spanish to me so it would work. good luck and congrats.

I think you should just think of a really good name for your son and suggest it to your husband! Let him know the truth.. He should understand and if he doesn't than let him know that there's already enough Raul's in the family and you want your son to have some character in his name.. Good luck

there's a kid in my son's school named Raul and he's like a bully to my son. So I know I wouldn't put that name in my list.
How about (I'm guessing your into spanish names):
Raphael Donovan
Eric Miguel
Damien Luis
Alexander Julius
Joshua Antonio
