I personally don't care what someone does to their own body. Some argue that the fetus is already a person. These people usually say abortion is murder. And that's fine, that's their belief.
However, doesn't that mean that miscarriages caused by poor care should be considered murder, too? For example, a woman who smokes during pregnancy and has a miscarriage caused the death of a fetus. Is that murder as well? Should it be outlawed?
Are people who are pro-life as avid about outlawing smoking during pregnancy as they are about abortions? Should they be?

A woman can do enough harm to her body that there will be a spontaneous abortion.
You're missing the point, Nunoyvgvna Awi, a pregnant woman who smokes during pregnancy is putting the life of another at risk. Don't try and say "well smoking doesnt cause abortions, so that makes it ok." The life is in DANGER.

I never said I agreed with a law that would outlaw smoking during pregnancy, I ASKED why people who are concerned about the well-being of a fetus (pro-lifers) aren't trying to outlaw smoking during pregnancy. And Snow Pearls for Penquins, I hope you don't put your daughter's life at risk ever again.

I used "if" to say that if the idea of outlawing abortion is to take place...
Everybody seems to focus on how I wrote the question rather than what it's asking. If you're smart enough to notice something as miniscule as a word being not what it should, then you should smart enough to know what I meant.

During pregnancy? They'd outlaw it entirely if local governments didn't enjoy spending that tobacco settlement money. Drinking or doing drugs during pregnancy is far worse and is responsible for a lot more of the birth defects of children in special needs homes and hospitals today. When you work with these kids and think what the parents did for their own pleasure instead of just waiting a few months, it is criminal. But don't worry, the latest bombshell from the Anglican/Episcopal church is supporting euthanesia of babies with "problems" to save money, I'm beginning to think it would be a good way to get out of paying retirement pensions for their bishops too :P

Since when is abortion going to be outlawed? I am unaware of any such legislation. I find it very sad that women are still being controlled by men because of their reproductive organs. When a man can become pregnant, there will not be any question or argument about ones rights to an abortion. This is not an issue that should be decided by men, and a woman should not have anyone's ideas or morals forced upon them during a pregnancy.
I did not particularly enjoy pregnancy, and I believe that it is a form of involuntary servitude. Forced on us unfairly by nature, still it is involuntary servitude. Yes, I know that there are those women who think being pregnant is wonderful, however, not all women feel the same. Who enjoys morning sickness, and the pains, aches, and uncomfortableness of pregnancy. Not to mention childbirth...UGH!
The sins of the father are visited upon his children, and this is true concerning the host (mother) of a fetus. Sometimes pregnancy is accidental, other times it is intentional. Quiting smoking is extremely difficult, akin to quiting heroin. I sympathize with individuals that are trying to quit smoking, and understand the difficulty in succeeding. If a child happens to be implanted in the womb of a smoker mother, that is fate. Just as the fact that our ancestors are of one race or another. Just as the set of genes that you get are also random.
I feel very sorry for young pregnant women in this day and age, when everyone is looking over your shoulder, and critiquing you and trying to control you during this time. Otherwise they do not give a hoot about you, or your life. It is none of their business what you do with your body, or if you choose to have an abortion, or carry to term a child.
I believe that the first man that started all the anti-abortion business was upset because he impregnated some poor woman, and she did not want to give birth to his child. Perhaps this was the only way that he could have any children was to force a woman to continue a pregnancy against her will.

Death to a baby isn't common. Usually what happens (depending on HOW much is smoked) is low birth rate and other health problems. SO, it is not the same as the flat out MURDER of a baby (abortion).
But, I have to say, I get pissed when I see a pregnant woman smoking!! It is not acceptable but I don't think it should be an actual crime.

I am pro choice because I believe it is your body, your choice, your right, and your problem to deal with if there is a God and he holds it against you, and it is also none of my business what you do, but I also think is wrong to have an abortion. However, you do raise an interesting point. If pro lifers are so concerned with the survival of the fetus then why aren't they concerned about the law where prenatal care is concerned.

Stillbirths and fetal damage can be caused by ANYTHING, including this great air we all breathe. Even if one were to quit smoking during pregnancy, there are hundreds of other factors outsiide of smoking that cause stuff like that. As far as putting out a law, NOPE! It would never happen. They said they were going to eliminate terrorism, which is impossible as well. Laws are applied to all, and certain things are not enforced all the time.

jointly as that's something that they like, enacting the coverage of outlawing abortion could have many undesirable effects. it would could be executed in steps, very small steps, and a transition to having abortion unlawful might could ensue over a era's time. If it grew to become into made unlawful the next day, it won't end abortion, particularly some women will nonetheless seek for abortions in secret, putting themselves in threat. in this timeframe, from 2000 to 2006, their grew to become into some small fulfillment in that the frequency of abortions decreased.

Sure, I wouldn't have a problem outlawing smoking during pregnancy. And, by the way, abortion IS murder. That's not a belief, it's a fact. Every single abortion kills an innocent human being. If you doubt this, take a look at:

Yes, and add drinking alcohol to your list - it causes fetal alcohol syndrome - and our tax dollars pay for all of the special programs those children need to get through life! Also to note - in many states late term abortion is still legal - abortion in the third term of pregnancy when the child has a very good chance of surviving on its own.

First of all abortion is not murder, is the best decision that a woman can make to have a babe and spend his life for him/her just for an intercourse she had; or have abortion and pain for a week and be free LIFE TIME!
However, as soon as a woman made decision to keep that child.
NOW it is LIFT TIME commitments to that Child; she is NOT allowed to do ANY kind of actions that MAY cause HARM to her Child.
Remember that the man & woman relationship may end one day.
However, EVEN DEATH, will not breach the "Mother & Child" relationship! Look, how many Millions child are crying for Death of Moms!!
The LOVE between Mothers and Child are REAL LOVE; that is the Solo reason that Billions Women Want and Love to be called 'MOTHER'!
'MOTHER' in Islam is like an angle, and said that "Heaven in under Mothers' feet" Which means IF mother be happy from her child; Allah "God" would give Heaven to that Child.

smoking has nothing to do with a miscarriage....and if you think it does......fire your facts gatherer.
most miscarriages are caused by the egg not attaching to the lining of the uterus. this is a common issue in all mammals all over the world...even humans.
to say its from smoking is like saying sneezing causes cancer.
