Hi, Andrea! I know what you mean! That is my least favourite job in the world! Well, SOS pads, with a pre-treatment of one of those oven sprays will work, but it will take some ( okay, a lot) of elbow grease! In my experience there is no way around it. As much as I hate it, it just takes good old scrubbing to get it off. And when I do get it clean, I make sure I line the bottom with tin foil and take out any extra wire shelves that I don't need (you really need only one, and the other can be stored instead of cleaning and scrubbing it every time!)
When all else fails, I usually try to get my husband to clean it for me and I reward him greatly for it!!! Good luck.

Oven Pride worked well for me so worth a try and not overexpensive. Thereafter try using lining paper made for ovens and I find I get far less splashes by adding water to a roasting pan cooking meat which then is used for the base of gravy.

Take windex or any window cleaner and clean the oven with that. The ammonia in the window cleaners really cleans the oven nicely.

For the shelves and grill bits, take an underbed storage plastic container, 3/4 fill with water, add a tub of caustic soda, put shelves etc in overnight. The fairies do the job, rinse in the morning, sparkling.

I agree with the EZ-Off and now you can buy some that is Fume Free I think. But do PLEASE wear long gloves and maybe even some eye protection because that stuff can burn if you get it on your skin. It cleans the heck out of an oven though!

Make sure you warm the oven up before you spray it with Easy Off. It makes a big difference in getting the gunk to disolve. When you scrub it, use one of those course copper or stainless "scrubbies" as SOS pads are too fine. Have fun!

I use washing powder...work it in with just a little bit of warm water..so it's sort of like a paste, spread all over and leave for a bit
When you return it will still need a little elbow grease but it certainly helps.
