Color should never be an issue. We are all the same color on the inside and we are all part of the human race. However, I do admit to being very prejudiced against stupid and ignorant people. Color doesn't matter. What matters most is what is on the inside. The man probably won the race for governor because he was the right man for the job and the people trusted him. You can't trust on the basis of color. Just look at Bush.

No I was born a white American by the grace of God no more no less. I am proud that I am good to the residents where I work, animals and that I try to treat other people as Jesus asked 'Whatever you do on yo these the least of my brothers you do onto me

I vote issues. A few years ago in Georgia, we had a brilliant, black candidate for Senator named Herman Cain. He got a lot of votes in his first quest for public office, but lost to Johnny Isakson, who had been a mainstay of Georgia politics for 40 years.
Here's the problem: Cain is a Republican (actually, he's pretty Libertarian). There was grumbling from the left and from black constituencies that it is impossible to be black and conservative; therefore, Herman Cain is an "Oreo," an "Uncle Tom," a "Waterboy For Whitey" and all of the usual invectives.
I have no problem voting my convictions for anyone who supports my views, color is irrelevant. I wish the pendulum swung both ways so that black conservatives and Libertarians like Michael Steele, Clarence Thomas, Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell, Shelby Steele, J.C. Watts, etc. could hold their beliefs without becoming targets of pejorative venom.
Why is it acceptable for Barak Obama to campaign against Michael Steele in Maryland (a black Republican in Maryland) saying to blacks audiences, "race should not be a factor when you go into the voting booth," then say to black audiences in Tennessee, on behalf of Harold Ford, "Vote for Harold Ford because I'm feeling very lonely in Washington, D.C.?"

I don't understand the question. If you are asking if I am white, yes. Am I proud? I am
what I am. I am not ashamed of who I am
and I don' feel guilty about the plight of the
poor black person. I was a poor white person
who chose to try to make things better for myself, I didn't wait around or whine for others
to do it for me. If a ***** was elected Governor of Mass. obviously, that person tried
to make things better for themselves also. In today's world anyone can achieve their goals
if they demonstrate willingness and
effort. What's YOUR problem?

If you cast your vote for the person that you feel is the most qualified and has your best interests at heart, what difference does it make what color he/she is?
I am sure people were not voting for him because he is black. Voting for the right reason is the way everyone should vote. I don't know why you are surprised...................

If the elected governor was the best candidate, he/she SHOULD have been elected! It's nothing that anyone should be patting themselves on the back over. I hope this person serves your state well :-)

What does race have to do with person's qualifications to run for office? As long as people like you harp on race, there will always be racism in this country. Way to perpetuate hate.

I don't vote on the basis of color. That would be racist. I vote for the best person no matter what his color.
