Happy Thanksgiving!!
I am celebrating my first American Thanksgiving with my boyfriend (he's a yank), what can I expect? Is it like Canada: turkey, pie, sweet potatos, cranberry sauce, etc?

Hey, Canada! Happy (belated) Thanksgiving to you, too!
Yes, the US Thanksgiving menu is just like Canada's. I'm sure there are some CAD families that develop traditions - same here. And then after dinner, the kids and the men go off to play or watch football while the women clear the table, put away leftovers and do the dishes.
As one of the guests, I hope you get the wishbone!! Have a great time with your boyfriend's family!

Well, thanks so much! Happy Thanksgiving to you too Meggie!
Yes, you can expect much of the same food of course.....turkey is the tradition here too and all kinds of sweet potatoes (marshmellows, pecans, etc) and homemade cranberry sauce and lots of pies to choose from......also it's tradition here to invite whomever you know does not have a place to go and invite them to your dinner table. A friend perhaps, someone you know from work who is a lonely heart.......always nice to ask what people are doing and you find someone would really appreciate the invite!
Enjoy yourself!

I expect so.. although I'm neither American or Canadian... Nor a meat eater.. but from all the propaganda about that holiday it's fairly safe to assume.
