Depending on if you have LP or Nat.Gas. if you have a tank that has to be filled that is LP, and if your tank gets low there is an additive in the gas that gives it a very strong odor when burning. see if your tank is running low. there should be a gage on the tank.

IF you smell gas, It either means you have a leak or the burner is not burning the fuel right. (Fuel /Air Mixture) Either way if you are not used to working with gas or plumbing you should call a plumber to have it checked. It can be very dangerous.

If you are comfortable checking it out yourself:

Get you a spray bottle and put a bit of dishwashing liquid in the bottle and mix it with water.

Pull the dryer away from the wall. And spray the soapy water on the gas lines and valve. If it is leaking it will cause bubbles.

Repair or replace the gas line or valve - BE CAREFULL!

If it is the burner, It will have an ORANGE flame instead of a blue one which means the air to gas mixture is not correct. The adjustments are done in the factory and should not be changed. But you can clean the orfice with a pin or something small and pointed. But you will need to shut off the gas, disconnect the plug and move the dryer away from the wall. You will notice a HOLE or multiple holes near the burner. Gently clean them out and blow the burner out with an air compressor.

Again if you are not comfortable with this call a plumber.or replace the dryer.

Are you really smelling gas or some other odor?

On the side of safety you should call the repairman to check it out. You would not only smell gas while it is running but any other time if there were a leak.

You may have a blockage in the vent and are smelling other odors.

Either way a visit from the repairman will sort out what you are smelling and be corrected to give you peace of mind and a better night's sleep.

First of all you need to shut off the gas and call the gas company and/or dryer company to come out and fix it.And you should probably get out of the house and stut off anything that sparks or has fire like the stove furnace or water heater just incase

South Bosque, and Appliance are the only ones not hollering Wolf. The repairman needs to be called after you do all the easy checking. I would check the exhaust, it is probably plugged.
