I posted a similar question a while ago and after some research, I am now looking for a new opinion. I have a shubunkin named Stewie and a black moor name Colby. I just got a new 29 gallon tank. I would like to get them one more friend. Now someone here has said that these 2 types should be seperated, but they get along well. They were in the same tank when I bought them, and I would prefer not to seperate these babies. Saying all this, what would be an appropriate choice for a third goldie. I am thinking maybe a comet or another moor? Maybe a Ryukin? I am not too sure. I'd appreciate some input.

Thanks!

Ryukin would be a good choice because I feel that it's the toughest of the round body goldfish. A good long body option would be Wakin, but if you really have the money you could even include Jikin in you option :P.

Oranda makes a choice too.

The others you can think about are Ranchu or Lionhead.

Try to avoid Pearl Scale and Celestial Eye or Bubble Eye, these are too delicate for a mix tank.

Good luck in choosing you next goldfish.

I was thinking Ryukin as I was reading, so, I pick something else. Maybe an Oranda.
Below an interesting link I found looking for some pictures. If you scroll the bottom part this guy have a Black Moor, Oranda and Calico Ryukin. Ha!!
Oh! The Oscar and Catfish in a different Tank.

well if them two have lived together for a while. you should buy a fe3eder fish just to make sure they are not territorial of their new area/ black moors can get pretty big. mine is as big as my WHOLE HAND. he is alone in a 40 gallon aqurium though so he had room to gorw. i wanted to add in another black moor but they are so small. i had trouble with adding in goldfish b4 anf they were aggressive with eachother. so they pet store offered a smart ide. get a few feeder fish and see ifhe destroys him or not! lol well they are both alive and doing fine. my fish is swimming around alot moe. he's so big he usually just lays at the bottom all day. but you should try that first then get nother fish. but you day your tank is only 29 gallons. i would just keep it at 2 fish for now till you get a larger aquarium.

good luck!

Ryukins are pretty though =)

Ryukins are very sociable fish and should fit in well so I'd say any of the 3 choices would be fine. Just ask the petstore where you go to make sure.

I'd stick with 2 beings a 29 gallon tank is still pretty small. And don't forget:

*Always quarantine all new goldfish for at least 30 days before placing them in with your other goldfish .

*Float the newly arrived goldfish in your quarantine goldfish aquarium to adjust water temperature.

*Never dump the water from the shipping fish bags into your goldfish aquarium .

*Remove the goldfish from the shipping bags with your wet hands, not a net.

*Don't overcrowd, one goldfish per every ten gallons of goldfish aquarium water.

*Treat all new goldfish with a .3% salt ( one tablespoon per gallon) to treat for small parasites.
