my niece is having problems with her homework and needs a little help. I am drawing a blank on how to help her with this one question:
If 9 employees require 15 days to complete a task, how long would it take to do the same work if there were 3 additional employees? Assume that all employees are equally efficient.
can anyone help and explain how you got your answer this way when it comes up again I can help her?

Take 9 people times 15 days = 135 people/days then say instead of 9 there are 12 people. Divide the 135 by 12 = 11.25 days.

It takes 9 * 15 = 135 employee-days to do the job. So the question is "How many days will it take 12 employees to do the same job?"
The answer is 135 /12 days = 11.25 days.

9 employees = 15 days, so 3 employees = 5 days. (3/9 x 15) It follows then, that if all employees are equally efficient, bringing in 3 more workers would reduce the time taken by 5 days, making the answer 10 days.

your problem may be summarized as if 9 persons can do work in 15 days,how many days 12 persons would do the same work.The easiest way is to find out the man-days required to do the work.The no. of man when multiplied by days gives us man days.kSo from the first part of the problem,you know that the work requires 9X15 or 135 man-days
now if you divide it by 12(the no. of men now enployed) you would get the days required by them to complete the work
Therefore the answer is 135/12=11 1/4 days

9 can finish the work in 15 days.
12 can finsih the same work in 9/12*15=11.25 days.

I say 10 too. everything by 3. You can break it down to say every 3 employees is about five days of work. three more employees equal five less days of work. Also three less employee equals five more days of work.

divide 15 by nine. then multiply that number times the new amount of employees (12). i think that's rite...my mom always told me it was a weird way to figure it out but i'm pretty sure it comes out with the correct answer

since the numbers are all divisible to something..maybe the answer is 10..
like if there's 6 ppl working, they'll be done in 20 days..
i'm not really sure..sorry..
