Doing your best is all you can do. If it still bothers you, keep trying!
But, if this has anything to do with a relationship, give it up! Do not put all your efforts into something that is not appreciated.

leave it at that it was my best. but then i try to do things to help me get better, so my best is better the next time...if that makes sense lol. but if it was your best (at the time) then there's nothing you could've done, really.
