Plate margin orogenesis refers to mountain building along plate margins, as caused by tectonic forces of movements of plates relative to one another. Two colliding plates (destructive margin) cause rocks being squeezed together to fold, form faults, and lift. This may be associated with metamorphism and plutonism.
The Himalayas, Andes, Cascades, mountain ranges of New Zealand and Japan, Aleutians are all examples of orogenesis (mountain building) occurring along plate margins.
