You should have a CPU with a clock speed of at least 2.0GHz for video editing. And 2GB of RAM. A video capture device (USB or PCI) and associated software is needed. A large hard drive is also necessary for storing the video projects while you are in the process of editing them and a DVD burner is needed to transfer your video to DVD. I don't know what equipment that is on your HP, but this is what you'll need for video editing.
