Indispensable for veggie burgers, though hardly the intention of the toastmaster generals designing the machines.

the tricky thing is there's no standard thermodynamic measurement attributed to each proportion on the toasting gradient from low to high.

Sometimes it seems that the scale isn't even arithmetic but exponential or utterly random, changing by the day. When someone moves the dial a millimeter, you know your toast will be anything but what you expect, trying in vain to find the sweet spot again.

There needs to be a toasting diagnostic tool invented to gauge and adjust each individual toaster according to your fixed standard. If you can make it into a 2-in-1 device, Sharper Image might buy the rights.

If you have a stomach virus, eating burnt toast will kill the virus in your stomach. This works because when you burn the toast, it effectively becomes charcoal. This charcoal is a form of carbon that will latch onto the virus and kill it. Thus, your stomach discomfort will go away. Now, you will still have to recover from the other symptoms, but there will be little or no stomach originating nausea. That may be a purpose for the high setting on toasters.

Well, there ARE human beings out there who are not decent. Haha, just kidding. I think the companies who make the toasters want you to know that it is capable of doing this, so you'll be sure to watch the toaster so not only do you pop it in time to prevent burnt toast, but also to prevent burnt anything else.

Because when you use dark bread, it does not toast unless you leave it in there longer. The setting for dark bread would burn white bread on the same setting. Try toasting a whole wheat bagel and see where the setting is.

Believe it or not there are people on this earth who do like their toast very very dark and my husband is one of them. Also, if the bread is cold or even frozen, then those settings would not create burnt toast.

It is a conspiracy by the bread manufacturers to sell more bread, and by toaster makers, as burn't toast shortens the life of a toaster..A viscious manufacturers greedy plot..

Forget it....I will send y umine....just email me and we can take it from there.. I am serious....Just pay for the postage in reimbursement ok? TOTALLY SERIOUS....and throw your toaster out, sounds like a fire hazard. You can have mine, I am moving out of the state and cannot take it with me. "TRUTH"

I used to toast frozen bagels at the highest setting, and they came out about right.

You may not consider it decent but people have different tastes. Why are there people who prefer raw steak as to well done?
