It's not like women who get abortions walk off never feeling anything. I'm told it's an incredibly traumatic experience. No one ever wants an abortion, but sometimes, it's a collosally bad idea to have a baby.

A quick note: NO ONE is pro-abortion. NO ONE. They are PRO CHOICE. The distinction looks small, but there is a very big difference between the two. Pro-choice means acknowledging that it's not the government's business - it's the business, and the choice, of the woman, and hopefully she has the loving support of a partner and family to help her make this decision, no matter what that decision will be. But NO ONE is pro-abortion. NO ONE is pro-baby killing.

There are circumstances. Incest. Danger to the mother. In some cases, if a very bad disease has been diagnosed in the fetus, that would bring a child only pain and a short life. Either of these things would mean that the mother, and maybe her family and/or the father too, would have a decision to make. A decision. That doesn't mean they would be pro-abortion.

Another good reason to be pro-choice is that outlawing abortion would not stop it. Not at all. It would just mean dirty, illegal clinics and horrible conditions for everyone. Pro-choice people generally want abortions to be very safe and very rare.

I repeat: people who get abortions do not necessarily do so guilt-free. Even if they know, rationally, that they shouldn't feel guilty, they often do.

Some are pro choice because they believe they can't deal with a pregnancy psychically or mentally even though they could give a child up for adoption. They been talked into it by someone they love or some one they trust. Others believe that they can do it just because it's "their body" (not true, they have a creator and it belongs to him). Some are fooled into believing that it's not really a baby yet. This statement is also not true, it was a baby upon conception. Some think that it should be o.k. in the case of rape or incest, both being really terrible things but neither warranting murder especially when there are many waiting to adopt a baby. Some are fooled into believing that the earth is over populated and that kill Innocent children will fix this problem. Are we next going to kill off anyone over the age of say 65 you know because they have retired and no longer contribute to the working society? It could be anyone of these foolish reasons. As for the guilt, there are many who think that they can deal and sadly cannot. They fall into deep depression often thinking about how old the child would be and what might they be doing right now. Would they have children now? Many questions that go unanswered because they never gave the child a shot.

I don't understand how intelligent people can be fooled so easily. Are we as humans really that self centered?

The majority DOES have values and doesn't support this atrocity. The media, however, is controlled by LIBERALS and they like to make it APPEAR that America is pro-choice, but it isn't true. The media is biased, and America is uninformed. Not only does abortion murder a child, but it murders the soul of the woman. I know a woman who had an abortion. She was raped, and she was scared and not thinking clearly. She said that if they had told her that she could have complications and possibly never have children again, (which she almost didn't) she wouldn't have done it. She said had she also had an ultrasound, that would have changed her mind. She hates Planne Parenthood, and the lies they tell and was devastated after having an abortion. But now, she thanks the Lord that she is forgiven and that she can tell her story.

Planned Parenthood and other organizations try to desensitize people by dehunanizing the baby inside. That is the only way they have been able to callous peoples' hearts.

Look at this and then try and be "pro-choice" .... if you're brave enough. WARNING it's hideous and graphic: http://photobucket.com/images/search/abortion/

Because there are women who get raped and even have medical problems that would be harmful to them and the baby if they had it. Not everyone has an abortion cause they are bad people. It can save some womens lives and prevent a child from coming into the world with a medical problem or dying at birth anyway because something was wrong. Stop being so narrow minded. And if you can't live with the guilt then don't have one. Your choice. Let others make their own choices and mind your business.

It's not that so many people want the abortions. It is the fact that prohibiting women from having abortions may cost the mother her life as she may not be able to bear the child because of some illness or disability she has. She can make the choice, and if she has other children at home, her choice may be to stay alive to raise her other children.

Incest and rape are also reasons for abortion. Say a 10 yr old child got pregnant and the possibility of having a child could traumatize her forever or her body was too underdeveloped to have a baby--and she is a child too, so which one do you sacrifice?

Another reason for abortion is that years ago, girls and women would get pregnant and used crude methods of aborting and ended up dying because of bleeding or infection. If we're going to worry about life, these women are people too.

There are also, evil people who would harm a child if they had one, abandon it, abuse it, or bring it up in an environment that would make this child like them. If a person doesn't want a child and hates the thought of bearing it, they shouldn't have it.

There are so many reasons why people have abortions, and really, are we to question them? It isn't our right. You know, there are so many neglected children here in America and nobody wants them, and you can't legislate the parents to care for them, so what to do?

I've seen pro-lifers participating is protests judging women and doctors about abortions, and they have even killed some doctors. None of them, though, seems to have a place for the baby when it is born. They don't have an answer for that and the public fights the Social Services for giving "hand outs" to the children they didn't want aborted. That makes no sense to me.

I think pro life activists would be more successful in teaching birth control methods, helping adopt out children to good homes in America, and offer counseling assistance to those they condem.

There are many Democrats, liberals, Independents, just like some Republicans, who are pro-life. The majority of people do not think abortion should be a means of birth control and neither do I.

You will not have to feel guilty as you have made up your mind you will not abort a child and that is good. Remember, though, we are not the ones to judge anybody for their actions as that is God's job. You can give your advice if asked, but it's not your fault if they are sinning and only God knows if He counts it as a sin. He has his own way of handling things and who are we to supercede Him.

As far as murder goes, it is all the same to God. "Thou shalt not kill" and we do it all the time. The death penalty is supported. Shooting a robber entering your home is okay. War is okay. Pro lifers kill doctors. We kill for different reasons to save ourselves, so what is the difference between that and abortion?

Sorry for the long memo. I am passionate about this subject.

Just because people are pro-abortion, it doesn't necessarily mean that they run out and have abortions. You say that the guilt would kill you and that's good, but would if it was your life versus that of the unborn child? Would if you were raped or a victim of incest and became pregnant? These are some of the question that people ask and then they ask the one most important question--and that is, do others have the right to decide what any woman may or may not do with her body? It's all about choice. Even if abortions were illegal, desperate women will attempt to do something on their own or ask anyone to help end the pregnancy and that could be catastrophic for them. Just because abortions are legal, it doesn't mean that every woman has to race off to have an abortion. I believe life begins at the moment of conception and I believe the life has the right to continue. Abortion is a double edged sword.

Everyone is PRO-Life, No one is PRO-abortion. Everyone would like to see abortion not happen. But it is a personal choice for a woman (although I believe the man should have a say somewhere). When a woman or couple makes that choice (abortion or not), they have to live with that decision just like any other decision.

Those who give a thumbs down to this answer must be of narrow mind and want to force their belief onto others. That is not christian... because GOD is the one who will judge those for their actions. That's why the issue of abortion is so mute. You'll never convince someone who will make that decision or change that if that is what they believe. I learned that a long time ago.

I think that PRO-LIFE is not to send a person out and get killed for a cause we don't have any reason to interfere with (IE: Iraq). Pro-life is to teach the basic principles of not getting pregnant and being faced with that decision. Pro-life is to help your fellow man achieve their great potential!

Enough said!!

I really don't think women are really pro-abortion. I don't think they have a tea party and say lets all go out and have an abortion today. I'm sure there is alot of thought that goes into it and a psychological affects of having an abortion. Maybe they decide for financial reasons to have an abortion because they would never be able to support the baby.

Maybe they decide out of guilt to have an abortion so they don't embarrass their parents who may belong to some crazy religious organization!!

Maybe they know they are a drug addict and if they have the baby there will be something wrong with it and it will only suffer in life since no one else will want to take care of it.

Maybe they know deep down no matter what they choose the relgious people will never step forward to help them.

I am against abortion, but I have a sister who has had 2, the 1st one basically to get EVEN with her boyfriend, he cheated on her and she had the ATTITUDE I will show him and KILLED their baby, she started having drinking and drug problems shortly after that, that was over 13 years ago, she is still very unstable and I am not sure if any of it has to do with having an abortion, but I think it might. If you are NOT ready for a child use BIRTHCONTROL of have some SELF CONTROL. A baby should not pay the price for bad choices.
