If you guys are putting gasoline in your fuel door or gas cap, I'm staying away from all of you!!
I don't know that the gas tank has a name for the top opening. At first guess, I'd have to say a "spout", but that term generally indicates an area where liquid comes OUT. The same holds true for the term "nozzle".
I'm gonna have to agree with you for now - gas hole works, not to mention it's amusing!

the fuel filler neck is the opening to the gas tank and is toped of by the gas cap. hope that helps.
