When the term no longer applies. If I remember my economics right it is a country that has only one national product and thus has a very unstable economy. It normally has galloping inflation and standard of living is very poor nationally. This leads to political instability and coups and revolutions are typical.

There are other criteria but that is the gist of what third world means. There is also second world and first world of course. The numeic designation basically stands for the stability of the government and economy. When the world countries no longer fit the discription, they will no longer be clasified that way.

When that country become a first world country . first when it no longer has a dictator ruling with iron hand , second when it will be offering the puplation a good standards of living . However in our culture there is an old syaing that says "No one become rich without another one becoming poor, simultaneaously" so for a first world country , like yours I presum , to exist a third world country like mine must exist.

I think it's a useful term. When someone refers to a "third world country" I understand what he/she is talking about.

3rd world usually refers to a pre-industrialized country. Industrialization and the subsequent large scale import and export of raw materials, goods and services gives a country a meaningful stake in the world economy. Countries without industrial infrastructure traditionally lack formalized trade and political stability, and as a result are not a legitimate option for multinationals.

Don't hold your breath. It's become a convenient catch all term, kind of like Neocon. People use terms without knowing or caring what they mean because they think it makes them sound smarter than they are.
