Personal responsibility is a great thing if you get the chances and the playing field is even.
That's first thing I know about it.
I also know it's a term abused by rich right wingers to justify poverty.
Most really rich people are still born into wealth and personal responsibility has nothing or little to do with it.
Respect for anyone who makes something of their life, regardless where it started but it's foolish to suggest where you come from doesn't effect the chance you have to make something of your life.If you have the misfortune to be born extremely poor, personal responsibility will not cut it.You need a Little help.
If you see it at a global scale,it's even mean and reckless to blame all people's misery on lack of personal responsibility. If you are born in Africa at this moment and you're not part of the privileged few chances are you'll be poor, whatever you do.
Personal responsibility is great and needed but at the same time anyone should realize it is also a luxury that in some instances doesn't cut it

Most of them very little.

Most liberals think they should be taken care3 of by the government from birth and even after death.

Liberals in general do not want to accept responsibility for themselves and at the same time want others to to be responsible for them.

Then again I could say a lot about Conservatives as well but that was not the question.

Liberals are typically the people you'll find operating health care clinics in poverty ridden neighborhoods.

Liberals are typically the people who promote educational opportunity for all, thereby enabling a society to progress more readily than would otherwise occur.

Liberals are typically the people who make sure catsup isn't counted as a food serving to children in school.

Liberals are typically those who promote the availability of mental health services to those who would otherwise not be able to afford such services. This promote a healthier society and perhaps, just perhaps serves to curb crime.

Liberals are typically those who pushed for civil rights for all people. As a result, many black children have grown up without the level of discrimination their parents and grandparents endured. Plus, as college opportunities were more readily within reach the percentage of blacks earning college degrees has increased many times fold. This has serve to improve the lives of many who would otherwise never have known any difference.

Liberals accepting responsibility? Not only for themselves, but for others as well.

My only right-wing friend use to go on and on about how liberals don't understand personal responsibility, which was odd, because every liberal he knew had a steady good-paying job, saved for retirement and were raising great kids.

He, on the other hand, had failed to pay his taxes the last 3 years, had let his car insurance lapse, and had not saved a SINGLE penny for retirement (he was 36, incidentally). As these facts came to light, I realized I wasn't going to waste another minute of my life listening to right-wing phonies preach about how they are paragons of personal responsibility.

when you consider that 1968 we've had 12 years of Democrat administration. Do the maths and prevent blaming the liberals for each and each and every of the topic matters. commence with Nixon's secret plan to end the Viet Nam conflict. extra troops died in Viet Nam less than his administration. That conflict ended on would 7, 1975. really the plan he had. do not tell me it ended earlier because i replaced into contained in the defense force on the time Saigon fell and replaced into fantastically irritating till Ford and the Democratic living house refused to finance the conflict any further. i'm a liberal and served contained in the defense force and characteristic held a interest with a similar agency for 33 years so do not tell me about personal duty and exertions. proper wingers and neo cons scare the hell out of me.

What a stupid question. Why would'nt they know about personal responsibility? Conservative Republicans are known, worldwide, as the political party that advocates the abdication of personal, individual responsibility. That is what it means to be Republican. That is the classical definition.

Probably just as much as conservatives do.

On both sides, there are those who work hard for themselves, live good lives, pay their taxes, etc. the same can be said for those who don't have nay personal responsiblity what so ever.

So, pretty much, it comes down to the person, not the politcal stance.
