What you need to do is find something that will get the attention of the student in question. For instance, if you are teaching inertia, find out id the student likes cars and then use a Dodge Viper as an example. What happens if you hit the brakes on a Viper at 100 miles an hour with no seat belt on? Then what happens with a seat belt on?

If you are teaching about the civil war, use a good movie to teach the points. Or have the students film a reenactment of the questions and put Mr. Sloth in charge of the camera. Get the lazy one involved! Give him a purpose in the process.

You have to get the students attention. And each student is different. Find out what the students home life is like, he may be tired because he gets no sleep due parental arguments or something. He may be a "Drug Baby, product of a drug abusing mom.) You are the teacher, you must get involved, investigate, in some way, to find the individual answer. It may be your chance to be a hero! But try the first solution first. It may as simple as that.
