Yes, as tonalc1 has pointed out, it would be among the top 10
economies in the world. I will post links to back up the claim. It
does more than its' share to contribute to the US economy, despite what the first person posted. The reality California pays more in than what it receives from the US federal government.
The reality is the rest of the USA would be more devestated by the loss of California, than California would be by the loss of being part of the USA. They are by far the leading state in the USA, and could do very well on its' own if it became its' own nation.

the 10th thing is right, but the first post makes a decent point, which is outside your question.

If California was a country in its own right, it would be unable to hold that top ten ranking, because it would have to do all the work itself.

California is going lower than with union help. long island does not have the oil and likely potential to help itself. Texas can be a wealthy us of a with or without the different state.

NO! Definitely not. Have you seen how subsidized California is by the Fed? There is no way it could support itself if it was a separate country.
