some women I know are dialated 2 cm for 3 weeks. It doesn't really mean much when your doc says your 2 cm dialated. THats like loosing your mucus plug. DOES NOT mean things are going to happen right away

Not sure about two but I was dialated to 3 for three days then all of a sudden I was at 7! Hope that helps you. (I'm pretty sure no one's answers will help much. Every pregnancy is different. You could be dialated to 2 for a few days with this pregnancy and then be dialted to 4 for 4 weeks with the next one!)

You dilate into 10 centimeters when you give birth...When at 2 centimeters your still at an early stage, you dont even get an epidural until you reach 4..It all depends on ya baby you can be at 2 and in hour jump to 10...or like some unlucky people be in labor for 20 hrs or more before they reach it's time..But they can give you a shot to make your contractions stronger so you can dilate faster because the risk of infections with ya water being broke...

With my first pregnancy I was dilated to 2 cm for about 2 weeks. I started walking quite a bit, doing extra things, and I ended up with high blood pressure. So, they induced me at 40 weeks (I delivered my son on his due date). I would have been later if I wouldn't have taken on so many things at once to try to "kickstart" my labor naturally. Best advice if you are dilated to 2-cm: listen to your doctor! If normal activity is OK, then go about it. If they say take it easy, then take it easy! The time will come soon enough, and you'll know when the time is right.

A woman can be dilated to 2 without being in active labour.

Signs that the woman should (soon) go to the hospital are if her water breaks, if she is having contractions five or less minutes apart, ea. contraction lasting for about a minute each.

She should call her physician if in doubt..

Best of luck!

I have been dilated for 4 weeks now. If you havent gone into labor but have dilated to 5cm then your doctor will induce you.

Sit back and put your feet up, because that can go on for weeks! It all depends on your body.
