can you play games from ps1 and 2 on the ps3?

Theoreticallly? yes. Sony claims the PS3 will be 100% backwards compatible. HOWEVER, there has been reports of japanese units contradicting this already. Games like Gran Turismo not working properly. but it also should be noted that this is more than likely aliviated with firmware updates that Sony will release. Dont worry if you wont be able to connect your console to the internet, Games will ship with firmware updates on the disks! Happy Gameing!

Yes, but I heard that there are some compatibility issues with them. No sound, frozen screens, et al. They say there's fixes in place, but I'm still a skeptic. Typical Sony tactic...force the consumer to pay $60 a pop for new games to go with their freakin' $500 system.

sony knows about this and has already released a patch...check their website
