In the Van Morrison song And It Stoned Me, the choros contains the lines "And it stoned me to my soul...Stoned me just like jelly roll." I've always wondered what jelly roll is. Anyone know?

Back in the late 60's, early 70's, there was a drug named Placidyl. It was for sleep, but stoners used it to "get down". They came in green and red (different strengths) and they were a soft gelatin capsule filled with liquid. They called them jellies.

See, even at 62 young people interested in music can learn something from me. LOL

He's referring to an old slang expression which is sexual in origin. If you think of the shape of a jelly roll and what's inside you'll catch my drift. In this song, I believe it was just referring to a sex act.
