Just curious what the best way to keep kibble that is semi-moist from drying up in the bag...I've heard of dog food storage containers but do they really keep the moisture in? Is it inevitable that food will dry up with in a few days of an open package?

Get something better. It is bad for the teeth and contains a lot of sugar
Sugar is not an ingredient most people would expect to find in dog food, but many foods do, in fact, contain sugar, especially the semi-moist brands. In fact, some semi-moist foods contain as much as 15% sugar. The sugar adds palatability and moisture, and aids in bacterial contamination prevention. Dogs do not need this amount of sugar, which can stress the pancreas and adrenal glands, causing diabetes. Completely devoid of protein, vitamins and minerals, sugar is, literally, empty calories.

A lidded container for the food in the bag. We used to use a small garbage can and line it with a plastic bag with a twist tie. As for the food in the bowl, If the dog is leaving left overs, you are probably feeding him too much. If there is any left, it shouldn't be more than a couple of mouthfuls. Remember, dogs can get over weight , just like people can and they will suffer many of the same same obesity related health problems. I would throw out the bowl left overs, rather than trying to save them.

Try a storage type container like a 5 gallon paint bucket with a tight lid and line it with a trash bag. When done feeding tie the bag with a twist tie and put the lid back on. You can pick one up at Walmart in the paint section for about 5 bucks. The lids are sold separately but is included in the 5 bucks. Works for me

Yes the tupperware-like containers really keep the dog food fresh. I think they're great.

We got an airtight container from Petsmart (holds 10lbs of food, more or less) and we seem to go through it fast enough that it doesn't get dried out or stale.

Be sure when you're getting a bag that you're not getting one that's too large - the money you might save by buying the bigger bag is wasted if you have to throw the food out.

Seriously, if you have extra freezer space put it in gallon sized freezer bags and keep it in the freezer.
