Who else apologize to your pets?

Question

I was just cooking supper in the kitchen. I didn’t know that one of my cats was right behind me and I rightly stepped on his tail. He looked surprised but he looked like he forgave me after I apologized to him.

The other day, I was looking after my acquaintance’s puppy. When she jumped up on my couch, my elbow was in the way and I elbowed her by accident. She looked like she knew it was an accident but I apologized her anyway.

And I was wondering if anybody else apologize to their pets…
I'm not crazy / I'm normal, right?

I greet to my neighbour dogs as well. If they were barking at me, I tell them, “no bark, puppies. I’m not your enemy.” They (Pit-bulls & a Rattweiler) usually stop barking at me.

I am also a “bug-catch-release” person. And I sometimes catch myself apologizing to bugs for being forced to be in a grass jar until they are released outside.

My other cat, Oliver, understands lots of words like “living room”. But I adopted this Himalayan, Fuzz Face, about 3 years ago and he was already 4 years old back then. I’ve been and I’ll keep telling him how I feel but it’s been difficult to communicate with him.

I disturbed a porcupine once… he was probably looking for food and he stared at me with his quills bristling when he saw me… I apologized right away and he turned around and walked away.
Even wild animals understand our tone of voice, eh?… Did I just say, ‘eh’?

I do believe there are psychics who are able to communicate with animals. And I hope my cats could meet Heidi someday and she could tell me if there is anything else they want me to do.

I believe hitting is an ape language and some people just don’t understand that other species don’t understand the meaning of it.

Being considerate and polite is not a criteria for being crazy. No you are not. For example I very seldom yell and never hit my pets I have 4 dogs.
I always say, excuse me, I'm sorry, my space, or make a hole. They understand and except.
But the first and most important thing is I don't allow them in the kitchen when I am cooking. You can trip over them with a hot pot of food and burn/scald them. How can you apologies for that pain?
I just say out of the kitchen, or kitchen and they move back just across the threshold and sit. If I say it again, they move back so their front paws have not crossed the line.
I give/train them with the same rules and safety as I did my 6 children.

I do. I think it is very important.

I know a lot of you may think this is nuts, but I worked with an animal communicator that was VERY accurate. I completely believe that animals KNOW what is going on. My dog told this communicator things there is NO WAY she could have known unless the dog told her. So, if the dog can tell the pet psychic what when on when no one else was there, don't you think the dog knows when you apologize...and when you don't?
(By the way, the communicator was named Heidi...she is in Oregon, and very talented!)

People think I'm crazy when I apologize to bugs or squirrels I disturb. I just hate it when I'm walking down the sidewalk and a squirrel is sitting next to the sidewalk eating, then scampers off because I scared him.

This morning on my way back from breakfast, our campus possum crossed my path. He didn't realize at first that I was there, then saw me and flipped out and ran back into a bush. I apologized to him to.

And as you can imagine if I apologize to wild animals and insects that I must apologize to my pets. I'm not going to ignore them and act like they can't understand. Not all animals can understand words, but they totally understand the tone of your voice.

You are normal!!! Your pets are part of your family and even if they don't speak the same language you do, they deserve the respect you would give anyone else.

You tell you cat you love her don't you? or baby talk with your friend's puppy? It's not so much what you say, but how you say it and how you are feeling when you say it. They "get it" and let you know you are forgiven!

You are a caring, kind individual with great empathy. You are also not alone. I talk to my cats, neighbors animals, etc. They appreciate a greeting and recognition. Giving them an apology is giving them dignity. Don't change.

My Animals know my feelings.
They pick up on what im doing or feeling .. even saying.

I find if i trip or bump into one of my animals i do say im sorry.
Its more of a reflex.
If i bump into anyone my sudden reaction would be im sorry.
I think its just manners.. Even to our furry friends.

I stepped on my cats paw today and i said sorry. Then i told him he was stupid to run right in front of me.

I say sorry to my horse all the time cuz i feel bad about riding her when she doesnt wanna be ridden..

Hey, i thought i was goin crazy too! i always apologize to our yorkies when i accidentally step on her and doin something i didnt mean to do. I do that to some of our horses to! they do look like they forgive you!

I always try and apologize when I hurt my pets by mistake...I don't think you are wierd, it is good practice for the real world too! lol.

I do. We think of our pets as friends so it's just an automatic reaction. It's perfectly normal.
