I would send a gift box that included pictures and letters from friends at home(short notes, long letters). Xmas cookies or candy. Homemade pictures by little ones, a tape recorded message, a picture of the wrapped gift that will be waiting for him/her when they come home. A lot of small things to make them feel as close to you as possible.

from the bottom of my heart I want to tell you that everybody is giving a good idea of whet to get a deployed soldier but talking from experience, because I have a dear friend who is married to a soldier, the only true thing that one can give is love plus whatever you personally do think that he may like.

Sorry, dont you think the soldier has his own dog tags. And what does dog tags signify. That is not a good gift.

How about a collage of photos from the year. Something he can look at all year long. Or one of those calenders that has your own personalized photos for each month. These are great and he is probably gone for the year.

A photo mug is another good idea.

And books that interest him are great or even new magazines.

An electric razor is always welcomed.

Good Luck

maybe you can get him a razor, get some of the family pictures in an album, a coffee mug that has the picture of you and the children on it.

during this Christmas time, it is recommended that you enjoy this year and every single year with your loved ones.

i am married and i know what i am telling you.

I've heard that candy is always good. It provides energy, and some soldiers pay a lot to have something they took for granted in civilian life.

I suggest a care package of shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, lotion, snack food, a bible, a prayer, comb or hair brush, gloves (if it's cold), something to keep ears warm (if it's cold), & so forth. You are a mum of three? Have each child draw a picture, depending on their ages, of course. Maybe some packages of hot chocolate would be enjoyed. Bless the package before you send it. Have your whole family lay hands on it in the name of God. Fill it with love.
