Anywhere the sky is clear and there are not too many lights. And look after midnight, because the meteors will be hitting the other side of the Earth before midnight. Just before the start of morning twilight is the best time.

The Leonids can be seen from SoCal as long as the sky is clear and you're not buried in light pollution. The Leonids appear mostly within the constellation Leo, and that's located in the northeastern segment of the sky.

You can just drive out any place away from the city lights or you can contact your county's astronomical society and see if they're having a get together.
