Republican, the democrats have a tendency of placing polarizing figures up for the position. If you run a poll on Powell, Rice, Gonzales vrs say Sharpton, Jackson, Obama I would say the republican side would win. I could be wrong on Obama though, don't really know much on him. But overall, the minorities that the reps put out on a whole have more cross over appeal than what the dems have.

I would have to say the Democrats because of Barack Obama!

Overall I think he has the best potential. He is very well spoken, has a good background, speaks for the middle class and has a lot of class. I have even heard several Republicans that say he would have their vote. So he shows the potential to pull votes from the Republicans. I think Barack Obama might very well be the first minority president. He sure seems to be a leader in the Democratic party. Plus the Republicans are looking at him as a big star in the Democratic party.

Who knows really, only time will tell!

I could easily see Condi getting elected as a Republican and Obama getting elected as a democrat.

Just hang;; You have no idea what those two people have done for this country do you? I know a full bird colonel USAF that told me there is not one military leader that wouldnt give their life for Powell. He is 10 times the american you would ever understand. grow up.

and if he didnt hate politics he would run, the conservative would run him and win in a land slide.

It depends on whomever he/she replaces. If the mood of the country is to oust a certain party (sound familiar) it will be the opposing party's candidate that wins.

Yeah, ok...

The republicans idea of diversity: after being elected, find a token minority to fill the spot.

Powell.
Rice.

are examples.

Not that they aren't qualified, and don't do a good job (or didn't, in Powell's case - heck, he did a much better job than Bush), but that is the republican mindset.

Half of this is in jest...hopefully.

My guess is Rep. More likely to be qualified rather than just for "diversity".
