Apart from ruining your liver, becoming antisocial, stinking of alcohol and puke, killing yourself on the highway, losing all your decent friends, becoming the laughing stock of the rest of your "pals", being considered as an outcast by society, and lot of other similar things, I don't think there's anything bad about being an alcoholic. Hick!

IF you could keep it a victimless crime, no problema. However, alcoholics drive drunk and kill people as long as they keep drinking. They hurt people in many ways. They cost society a lot in lost productivity and medical costs. If you are not already an alcoholic, then it is a bad choice to go after it consciously.
IF you already are, get help.

Because being an alcoholic alters your actions. Alcohol is a narcotic. The abuse of alcohol results in 1/4 of all emergency room admissions. 1/3 of all suicides.1/2 of all homicides, domestic violence incidents, traffic fatalities and fire victim fatalities. Alcohol increases the risk of cancer of the iver, pancreas, rectum and breast, as well as the mouth, pharynx, larynx, and esophagus. Heart disease is greater and so is the risk of stroke.Increases the risk of menstrual disorders and spontaneous abortions. Causes fatty liver, alcohol hepatitis and cirrhosis of the liver. Kidney failure is greater. Also causes depression, anxiety and insomnia.
