The basic idea is the same in all fairy tale, good verse evil, good win. Morale of story is all evil will be punished eventually, while good always triumph. Just change the setting, the characters' names, and the time.

In case anyone stumbles on this post wanting answers, all story ideas have been over used. But it's not what the story is about that makes it good. It's how you write it. Make it original. I'm writing a story about vampires, but I'm making it full of detail and making it unique and I'm bringing the story life. The world is being overrun by Lurkers, which are zombie like creatures. A girl run away from her abusive dad and steals some of his weapons. There aren't that many Lurkers yet because most of the victims are being eaten, not turned. She ends up getting pulled into an alley and bitten by a vamp and left for near dead. Someone else comes along and feeds her his blood and she turns. The other person is Bryan and he lives with his human mother. Soon enough, the vampire's food source is being threatened and they have to go to war to keep the humans from being picked off by the Lurkers...

Write about a school, games, studies, rivalries, romance, learning, teaching, frustrations, part-timejobs, yahoo answers, --- wow, lot of scope there, not fully explored yet!

Every tale that's ever been told has already been told. We just dress them up in new clothes and alter the time and setting.
Hope this helps.
