I don't think this was posted the first time, for whatever reason.

I hate to be one of those people who pushes the abortion debate (as it will undoubtably begin once I post this), but something has been bothering me.

Why do members of the religious right automatically assume that an unwanted pregnancy is the product of having sex sans protection? Why do they think that people who have been raped should have to live with that trauma? Do they not realize that partial-birth abortions are all but completely outlawed, that an average abortion is simply a miscarriage, carried out before a heart has even developed?

And most bothersome of all, how many of those who insist that adoption is the best way, have adopted a child themselves? How many have saved children from the black hole that is the adoption system? Thought so.

Oh, Tami--Such a silly girl. Anyone can tell you that you that abortions will often happen within the first month. To say that the heart is already beating is such a sorry cop out, considering that I've seen so many religious extremists condemn girls for getting a morning after pill. Obviously, done within 6 weeks. Also, seeing as I've known people who were the product of rape, and people who have had abortions after being raped, I feel I'm pretty aware that it *does* happen, and is in no way a 'lame excuse.' Oh, and Tami, you didn't answer the last question, and I'm dying to know.

As far as the gentleman who mentioned generalizations, I am only referring to the many, MANY people I have seen on here, chastizing young women for being 'sinners'. Unlike those people who generalize all who get a morning after pill as evil, I am aware that there are people who are both Christians, and compassionate.

They don't think like that. They want to make you have one, then throw you down a hole for as soon as you have it you are one of those on the public dole!

They don't want to support it, educate it, or even give the mother enough money to get an apartment! Then they start blaming her!!

Sick people!

For the record, I am not a member of the religious right, nor any religious or any right. An average abortion is NOT a simple miscarriage. Have you ever been pregnant yourself? Banning partial birth abortions is a great thing; why don't you watch a video of one and see what you think. Or would you like to see the bucket of body parts left behind; maybe you're thinking, ahh, medical research....and as far as the adoption system, what a laugh. Why in the world are people forced to adopt babies from overseas if there are so many American children sitting around in orphanages waiting to be adopted? Here's a hint - because American babies are ABORTED, that's why.

First, it's always easier to generalize, and to use the worst examples to prove your points. So, those who want to oppose an activity pick the worst examples, and use that to imply that everything in the entire spectrum is the same.

It's a common tactic, appealing to emotional responses and trying to get people to avoid thinking about the actual issues involved.

And sadly, it's very effective, at least with most of the mindless population that doesn't bother thinking about the issues.

I am so tired of this debate. There should be no debate. A woman's right to choose is just that, HER right. No male jingoist, or far-right feminist has any right to question anyone's PERSONAL choice. If you are against abortion, don't have one, even if you are raped. Leave the rest of us alone.

You know nothing about science! Any scientist will show you on a video that a heart beats by 6 weeks!!!!!!! You can hear it at 10.
And, you know as well as anyone that Rape is a lame excuse, b/c that is so rare to get raped and pregnant. Even when it does happen, not the baby's fault. Get out of your "Convenience mode" and stop killing babies !!!!!!
And watch Nova's "The Miracle of Life"
Be amazed and finally educated!!!!
I myself was adopted and They don't all abort the first month, most after that. Most don't even know they are pregnant for a long time. Please get EDUCATED!!! Somewhere besides the ACLU. You're losing this debate you silly little girl!!!!

Newborn babies get adopted. The hard to adopt out newborns are the ones born with drug addictions. Older children have more trouble getting adopted. Dr Tiller in Kansas is killing babies that could live outside the womb, research it. Many families adopt and are very happy that the birth mother did not choose to kill ..

Since I'm not a member of the religious right, none of this applies to me. Nor am I a female, so it's really none of my business. Nor should it be anybody else's business. People should be able to choose what they do with their own bodies. If someone doesn't want an abortion, they don't have to have one.
