Feed her on demand when she's hungry. The general guideline for feeding a newborn is for infants 0-3 weeks: 8-10 feedings daily of 2-3 oz / 60-100 ml per feeding; for infants 1-4 months: 6-8 feedings daily of 4-5 oz / 125-150 ml per feeding. I have enclosed a link to the Feeding and Nutrition Guide in further detail from my website http://ca.geocities.com/__geri/FeedingAndNutritionGuide.xls

RE:
How many ounces of formula should a newborn eat/have?

Depends on how newborn she is....
1 to 2 ounces first 2 weeks.
2-3 ounces 2-3/4 weeks.
3-4 ounces 4/5 weeks.
At 2 weeks, 4 weeks/1 month, and 1.5 months babys go through growth spurts and will eat more.

I think that just depends on your baby. They should be eating every 2-3 hours. My daughter wasnt a big eater and would maybe 2 ounces at first, but my son would eat 4 and still cry for more and then my doctor said it was ok to give him some cereal at 2 weeks and that helped alot.

Newborns ussually start out here, in the United States with a two ounce bottle. They are not expected to eat it all at first, but some little piggies do. After a couple of weeks, like eight, they move up to four, and then eight. By six months the formula count goes down a little because they start on soft foods and don't need so much to get full. On a more personnal note, my babies were fed, until they were full. Made them cute chunky little babies, but they did grow up to be healthy adolescents with no weight problems at all. To each his own, you'll know what your baby needs. Don't worry.

I was worried about feeding my third child so much, but my doc said that as long as he does not get over 32oz in one day. depending on the infants current weight that can be every 2oz every 2 hours, or 4oz every 3 hours. My son is now 8 weeks old and has 5 6oz bottles every 4 hours, he actually sleeps through the night...(a new developement that we love).

You should take her weight and multiply by 2.5. That will give you the total amount they should eat in a day. Just divide that by how many times she eats and you will get the amount you are looking for.
