The positive is larger because it has to allow for more electrons to flow in to the battery. That is also why corrosion is always present at the positive terminal. If you could look at the inside of the battery at the negitive terminal, there would be a little corrosion there, too, though not as much.

The + ( red, positive ) is the larger terminal. Wire brush or scrape out the deposits to get a good connection, then lightly grease them to keep the good connection.

The Positive (RED) and the Negative one is the shorter one
(Black)=ground wire. never let wire touch together. Not even
jumping cables. It can spark if touched together so watch out.

DONT put them on backwards
