For it to be a paradox, one would have to assume that difficulty negated pleasure.

I've found that the most pleasurable things in my life have come from hard work. My children are the hardest thing I've ever done - childbirth, colic, potty training, patience, juggling schedules - but the joy they bring me sooooo overwhelms the difficulty.

It doesn't mean it's not hard anymore - it just means there's more pleasure than there is difficulty.
