I have a son that plays high school football and almost nobody wears them anymore, even when i was in high school not that many kids were wearing them any more.......they probably should but it doesent seem to be stressed as much as it used to and of course kids dont ever think they will get hurt anyway

I wasn't uncoordinated, but I definitely had a problem with team sports & everyone depending on me. I didn't want to let them down (& let's be honest, HS kids are not the most supportive of the lousy player on the team). If it was a solo sport (tennis, archery, bowling) then I did great. But in a sport like softball, they put me in the "out" outfield & I prayed that nothing would come my way. It was hell for me! If you do take it up, definitely go to a batting cage & practice before you actually have to play a game. Good Luck!
