I don't know if your stepson is a racial minority, but if he is, his boss is braking the law by engaging in or allowing racial harassment. However, your stepson made a big mistake by hitting his boss, and that would be grounds for firing whether he was being harassed or not. But he can still make a claim for harassment on the grounds that it created a hostile work environment, etc. The recourse for harassment is legal action. He may be able to make a claim through a state human relations or employment agency, or through the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). You should be able to find something in your phone book or on the internet, or go to your closest state employment office for referral.

Look I don't owe anything to anyone who lived over a hundred years ago. I am not saying it was right, but I didn't do it. Just like I wonder why the emancipated slaves were given land and things after the civil war, but he poor white man got zip! Nope not fair then either, wonder if the white people should ask about that. I mean I probably have an ancestor or two who were discriminated against because they were poor white people and got zip after the civil war. If anyone has a good reason to holler about their past and what got done to their ancestors, it is the Indians. Yeah they got shafted, and are trying really hard to make it on their own, with our govenment breathing down their necks hot and heavy. It is not a good idea to call anyone anything but thier name, or thier nationality. We are all Americans. No matter what. It is just we white people don't look upon the black people as having the power to hurt us with name calling. They apparently are very sensitive about it, and so we should not do it. If no attention is paid to a slur,, it becomes a memory. Some people just don't want to forget. I certainly hope this is taken as an opinion. I am not for or against anyone or anything. I give this opinion because it was asked of me. I respect your opinion as well, and hope you will do the same.

Your stepson assaults somebody and YOU want recourse against THEM? Please. I'd be more concerned with bailing your stepson out of jail if he keeps talking with his fists. What was said to your stepson was wrong, obviously, but so was the way he responded to the situation. No matter what someone says to you, you cannot lay your hands on them to harm them. That's called assault, and it is punishable by fines and jail time.

He should consider himself lucky if all that happened to him was a 15-mile walk and going back the next day and being told to leave. If I were your stepson's boss, I'd have had the police waiting for him when he showed up and I'd have had him arrested for assault.

I would recommend filing a complaint with your State's Civil Rights Office and also the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Additionally, I would consult with an attorney that specializes in labor law. If your stepson was assaulted, there are grounds for legal recourse. I hope that helps.

You're kidding, right?

Your step-brat's boss should be suing your step-brat for hitting him. There is no excuse for that. I'd leave it alone, or else the boss man might decide to call the cops on your boy AND make him pay up.

If your son is a minor you can sue for battery on a child. You should also contact any lawyer's office to see which kind of lawyer you will need to sue for violation of civil rights. If you the boy is black, contact the American Civil Libertys union. If the boy is white, you can try them, but not being black may be a hindrance. But I would nail these bastards to the fullest no matter what color he is. The Bar Association in your state should also be able to steer you in the right direction.

contact your state's labor board and the better business bureau. Explain the situation to them, and they have to investigate at the VERY least. Then get a lawyer and sue for discrimination and harrassment.

sue the company for harassment...and sue them for everything they have.
