Yes all the time, it is because of lack of concentration on the conversation at the time.
Your mind jumps to a further side tracked thought, brought about by the initial convo, usually because you are trying to get all of these thoughts into words in doing so your train of thought is totally distracted leaving you looking vacant and embarrassingly asking where was I at....everyone does this at some time..
Our minds are crammed with so much information that we sometimes recall past thoughts because the current convo recalls these thoughts...
Hope you are following this, Now what were we initially talking about..LOL?..♥

This happens to me. I'll be in the middle of saying something, and for some reason a word that I use all the time will be completely elusive and I sound like an idiot. I hate that. As for why it happens, I don't know. But it's damned annoying.

It does happen that you lose a thought in the middle of conversation because suddenly other pressing thoughts flash in your mind. This happens generally when the thinker is upset by other pressing thoughts.

This happens to most people at times. We tend to withdraw from the present to concentrate on the conversation taking place, only to return and find the conversation has moved on.
We have to practice being present, it doesn't come naturally.

Happens to me all the time. I'm very absent minded. I both loose my train of thought, and go off on "tangents." Maybe it's because there's so much stuff to talk about and not enough time to get it all out? Maybe it's because I have a small amount of ADD? Who knows....but you're not alone. Very absent minded...

Oh, we call that a "brain fart." Quite common. Some of the (missing a thought here) connections probably shorted out.

FOCUS, or the other person will get p.o.'d and think you don't take them seriously, (and girls can really make you suffer for that offense).
