What is a torque converter ? What does it look like where is it located? How would you know it was going bad as opposed to transmission? How much would it cost to be replaced?

Here's everything you need to know about torque converters. Generally speaking, they don't fail very often. Automatic transmission problems are caused by things like low fluid, worn valves, servos, and out-of-adjustment issues.

It is a large, fluid-filled device that is located between the transmission and engine. The transmission has to be removed in order to replace it, they are usually expensive and I really don't know how to tell when they go bad vs the actual transmission unless there is a fault code of some sort sent through the trans. management computer.

Don`t know what type of transmission you are speaking off. However are some basic thing to do.. Check Vaccumn modulator, Check vaccumn lines,Check fluid level, flush out toqure converter. Check for proper adjustments on trans and carb.
