Strom was an old southern Democrat, Not in today terms of Democrat. Look at Byrd and some of the other old senators. Old ideas some good some bad. History talking if you listen to them.

I don't think so. There would not be the trouble we have had with Bill Clinton and George www.Bush or internet inventor Al Gore.
On the other hand You have to be realist. I am a Southener 100% and would love to see the Confederacy stretching from sea to sea and from ocean to ocean and from the earth to at least 20 other galaxies.
Looking at the real picture I can see southerners have saved us and some kicked us bad. The first five presidents were Southerners and the good guys alone with Andy Jackson. But it ended about there.

Lyndon Johnson one of the sorriest southerners to ever come out of the south. As soon as Kennedy was elected in the primaries the odds were 10 to one he would not last his first term as soon Johnson was announced as his running mate.

Jimmy Carter; It was no secret that Jimmy Carter could not have won a dog catchers job any where in Georgia if he owned a town after his term as Governor. He caught the country in the lick of time when neither party offered us nothing buy bad luck and trashy liberals. Carter was both a surprised to everyone. Even his mom I bet voted Republican. She certainly could not see a Carter in the white house. it was well known that Miss Lillian or moma Carter said she raised Jimmy to be president cause he didn't have sense enough to run the filling station.

Thrill Bill Clinton; This unlikey rascal slipped in ahead of the internet craze and used it and to his full advantage taking credit for something he nor Al had anything to do with. He rode it so well that he won a second term and got out in time to leave George WWW.Bush to handle his mess he and Al left.
I resemble that. George WWW. Bush can and did make a mess of him self without anyhelp from Thrill Bill.
Now look at us we may have to vote for Strom Thurman even if he is dead. That's how bad off we are for canadates.
Only Arnold offers us any hope, and he's got better offers from the produces of Terminator 4. Beisides Arnold would have to slip into Mexico and return as an illegal to get full benefits or be president.
If you look at Stron Thurman's record(if you can find one) YOu'll find his Mixed daughter was eaiser to find than anything strom done for the South, America or his state in particular other than the military bases, and Carolina still lost some after his need for their votes died with him.
Stron Came across so many years as a die hard Southerner and in the end it was all talk.
I can say something about the rest of us Southerners yuo can't say about him. Mixed or not there are few of us who woud have denied our own daughter. I think that says something for us and says something about Stron that sucks.

Strom became a Republican when he realized how wrong his racism was and he saw the Democrats as staying racist, he had very conservative views and was proud to be an American.
