My new boss is really nice & likes me a lot. He always says I'm doing a great job & even sent me on a business trip my 1st week.
Ok so his assistant is the problem. She is so nasty. There are many little things to learn at work like all sorts of codes and passwords on the computers, and if I have to show customers items in glass cases there are like 50 keys (unlabled of course) etc. etc. So I have to ask questions sometimes (not excessive) and whenever I do, this assistant makes me feel like I am an idiot for even asking, I always get a nasty look etc. Also whenever I do something for her, she never thanks me. Also when I say thank you for helping me, she never says you're welcome, or anything encouraging but acts like I'm just wasting her precious time & I get another dirty look. I don't think she's ever smiled. And if I make a mistake, I get of course sighs, eyes roll, etc.

And although she's generally nasty, I feel like she treats me much worse than other employees. Why?

she is being a territorial *****... like a dog protecting its bone. It's a totally female thing. You are posing a threat to what she thinks is hers. Good luck with that...

Start spiking her coffee with xanax....

lol... good luck!

She's probably feeling insecure and it wasn't lost on her that your new boss has a lot of faith in you. She may feel jeopardized by you and even be worrying that you might become her replacement. People who feel threatened or inferior because of other people's accomplishments often default to rather childlike defense mechanisms like this. Sounds like she's just being a snot because she's jealous and freaking out someone else's good work is being rewarded. So keep doing what you're doing, obviously your boss is impressed with your good work. Don't let her get to you and be perky and polite without lowering yourself to her level. Let your boss catch her giving you attitude and she's sure to change.

Sounds to me like she feels her job may be threatened. If your boss likes you as much as you say he does, then maybe she thinks you are after her job, or that she has to work harder now to stay above you. And of course, she could hate her job and just take it out on you, since you are below her on the food chain and she can't take it out on her boss.

It's quite obvious isn't it? (: She rolls her eyes so much so you don't see them turning green.

There could be many reasons but I did think that maybe she had a really hard time before working and dosen't see why you should have it so easy? Just ask around (:

Good luck with it! ((:!
