Snowbaby is so very, very wrong. Snowboard don't tear up the snow any worse than skiers do, that is such a misconception. Whenever you see a snowboarder sliding sideways down a run or "scraping off" moguls it isn't the snowboard doing it, it's the snowboarder. If you were to follow me down any run in any condition at any resort in the world, you wouldn't notice any difference in the snow because I am a snowboarder. The plain and simple truth why some resorts don't allow snowboarders is because they just don't want to.

Yeah, places like Alta claim that all the narrow chutes and traversing are too difficult for snowboarders or that snowboards will have a negative impact on the snow conditions, it is such ignorant BS. A skier, who is in over their head and doesn't know what they are doing will do the exact same thing to the snow that these resorts claim snowboarders do.

You want to know the real reason? Snowboard tear up the snow worse than skis do so skiers want to be able to ski on snow that's fluffy and amazing, which they can't do if snowboarder are there too. That and it's kind of a status symbol, "we're better than you" kind of thing. Basically, some people don't accept snowboarders and that sucks, but it's a fact. I don't associate with people who don't want to snowboard with me just because they ski. If I'm not worth your time, then you odn't get to watch me fall down the mountain.

P.S. Okay so I'm wrong, but that's always the reason that people gave me, not because they're snobs but I guess they are. Sorry Paul, I didn't mean to misconstrue anything, I was just repeating what I'd been told. I think that maybe people just don't like to share. I grew up right around a bunch of ski only resorts so everyone who went there always told me it's because snowboarding tears the snow. Not to make excises, but I want to explain why I said that.

I'm with you paul. Snowboards dont chew it up any worse than skiiers. If anything, it's the exact opposite. You don't see any snowboarding moguls do you???
As far as snowboarding not being allowed. Just plain, flat out ignorance. I hope Taos goes bankrupt. And any other place out there with their head in their a** that far.
