I downloaded utorrent, and now I want to delete it off my computer. It looked at the FAQ's and it said delete the exe. I have no idea what that is or how to do it. My Norton antivirus keeps saying something is invading my computer, and it gives the location. So, I went to that location and deleted the folder, and file.... then got rid of it out of my recycle bin. The norton antivirus message keeps coming up. Please help!!!!

Did you go to the control panel? add/remove programs?
Also you can so a search on your puter. Start..search..all files n folders.. all or part of the name type in utorrent.exe. See if you can find it.
Delete that sucker. I looked up utorrent. It has an installer. You may have deleted it in the files though.
Maybe if you reinstall it over the old installation, you'll have the uninstaller back. Then uninstall. Maybe go back in time to a place before you deleted the files and see if you get the uninstaller back.
Good luck!

.EXE files are the files that make your programs "Run". It's a command that makes the computer actually perform an action of just about any kind. Without the executable part of a program, you cannot use the program at all as it will not "run". Totally separate from that, your Norton Antivirus program is used mainly to watch for and remove malicious scrypt (viruses) from your computer. Some versions will even keep a watch on your machine and will see every instance where YOU are trying to access the internet for some reason and when SOMEONE or SOMETHING ELSE is trying to get into your computer. This is not always a good thing. Your Norton will tell you the name of the application that is trying to get in and will even allow you to click on "more info" so that it can better describe the exact situation and why they sent you that alert. If you recognize that name to be one of your programs parts, simply include that site in your "trusted zones" which is in the "internet options" folder in the control panel. List the site and add it to the trusted zones and it will not be blocked again by Norton, nor will you keep getting the popups for that particular site. Larry RadioShack 01-9590

You need to go the Control Panel...
Add and remove programs
highlight the program in question and remove it.
If you are not able to delete it.. Then try this.
You could try the System Restore which takes you back to a time when your computer was working good. Go To:
start
programs
accessories
systems tools
system restore
This process is completely reversable. And does not remove your personal files. Just go back one checkpoint at a time until your puter is working good again.

Look for the source of the Virus. Norton does nothing to remove the virus. It just tells you its there. Look for where the virus is located. Then go to it and delete it. If you are getting the "unable to delete, the file is in use" notice, go into safe mode, and then delete it. The majority of viruses don't run during safe mode.

EXE is a program file you can either go to your control panal and click on add/delete and see if it is there then remove it .
if not then open your start menu and click on search click on all files and folders then scroll down and click on more advanced options check all the boxes then type the name on the top line.
where it says look in select local hard drive C then click on search. if it doesn't comeup then type in exe and scroll through the list until you find it
.then right click and delete it

I would suggest rebooting your computer. If that does not work. Reboot the computer in safe mode and perform a virus scan.

I provided a link below with instructions on how to boot your computer into safe mode depending on the version.

This will let you perform a better virus scan because your computer will not be accessing all the resources it normally would and let you properly remove all files associated with the Virus.

I hope that helps. If you need some more help please feel free to e-mail. My e-mail is in my profile.

You will need to go to your control panel and then add/remove programs and look for it there. Then you can delete it from there. This is the only way to completely get rid of the program.
