No matter what you use--a corset, a body shaper, whatever--that volume of flesh has to go somewhere. It's basic physics--we can redistribute mass, but not reduce it.
Because of this, the corset that you choose needs to fit properly to your frame. You should not get it a size smaller! You would just end up with the extra bulging out at the back of your shoulders and your butt. A prospect that sounds distinctly unappealing.
All that said, you can still get quite a high degree of firmness out of a not-too-tight corset without paying the price of that redistribution. You just can't expect to go from a 30" waist to a 22" waist without dieting for weeks ahead of time.

Go over to Fredricks of hollywood at the mall and ask for a Corset fitting. Depending on how uncomfortable your willing to be you can lose as little as 1 to 6 inches around the waist. But I wouldnt try sitting down in a tight corset. A good corset will run you from 45-100 dollars. Hope that helps.

A corset will be expensive. The el cheepo ones with plastic boning are only good for looking sexy in the bedroom. You also have to do waist training to get the hourglass silhouette, and that takes time. Also it displaces your internal organs & ribs change shape. Really not very safe.
But if you must then you start with a corset 2 to 3 inches smaller around than you are, then move up to smaller corsets after you become acustom to that size.

If you select the correct model and size of corset for your body at the beginning you will be assured of pleasurable and effective tight lacing whilst wearing your corsets. Not only will you look fabulous with a much sought after hourglass figure but you will make the optimum progress in reducing your waist over time with all the health and appearance benefits that ensue.

A corset? That's a bloody expensive and uncomfortable route to go just for one party. Plus, you'd have to have the dress altered to fit the new corseted shape. Try the L'eggs body shaper under your dress...they have one that holds in both tummy and thighs, works like a charm.

NO! A corset will have lines in it and not look smooth under your dress.... get a body hugging slip.... and yes.. buy it a size smaller so ur boobs will pop out top... it will give you the appearance of 'high and tight'.. good luck! J

have you thought about wearing something doesn't cling. a corset is very uncomfy and if you wear a dress that is vey little revealing, people can see here the corset begins and ends. and you won't have a good time.

Hey,
I wouldn't get a corset, why??? Why do you need to put yourself into that much pain for beauty??? Why repeat what the women of the 18th century were forced into???
Sure they say to be beautiful isn't always painless, but you're loving yourself by treating your body well! DON'T DIET!!! Exercise!!! If you keep active you'll be able to loose weight well keeping fit an toned, plus keeping you healthy so you'll live longer,
love yourself, don't diet! Don't put yourself in a corset! Your body deserves to be loved!
