Yeah it all comes out wet. However, there is the instance that only reds need to be washed separately. That is the only problem child colour that needs special attention. If you want your whites whiter soak them before the wash or get a colour safe bleaching agent to "keep the colour in". Either way you only really have to watch out for the reds. After a while the dye can't go any further.
But yes they do come out the same wet and hopefully clean

Yes it is VERY important. You only do a red load depending on how much clothes you have. If you don't have too much then you can put the reds right in with the darks. But you most certainly cannot put the darks with the whites.. Because the whites will be stained and discoloured. Anyways, you normally wash the darks with cold water and the whites with warm.

Colors bleed into white, when in hot or sometimes warm water, and darks have to be washed separate because they will fade if not washed properly. All call for different cycles and different temperatures

I sort towels from other's. White towels from colored. I sort clothing every 3rd or 4th time I do laundry and never have grey clothing. However, I'm not crazy enough to wash a new(er) colored shirt with whites either.

Wash a red t-shirt with your white dress shirt...you'll see why you need to sort. You'll have a pink dress shirt forever. It washes out of the colors, but not out of your whites!

I'm thinking you mean when washing your clothes. Yeah it's necessary. Whites get bleached. I really don't think you want to bleach a blue or black shirt.

Yes it is necessary. The colors will ruin your whites if you don't.

I dont sort my stuff, just put it all in. Might hand wash something that is new that the dye might come out of, thats it.

Depends on how picky you are. I separate mine, some folks just like to wear gray clothes all the time.
When I'm mad at my man though, i always wash his underwear with my red negligee....he's so cute in pink.
