Derrick Lee hands down. People wouldn't even think twice about this question if it weren't for the fact Lee was injured last season. Lee is one of those players that would still start if he were a .230 batter because he can play defense. It just so happens the guy can hit too.
Ask this question again next year. I guarentee people will be like, Konerko Who?

talent wise no doubt its derek lee. that guy is full of talent he had a chance at the triple crown 2 years ago. when hes healthy hes a much better all around hitter than konerko, not to mention gold glove defender. hes just an athlete . this is coming from an unbias twins fan. and as for he strikes out more and has lower averages doesnt mean anything he took a few years to mature in the majors and is now a better player than konerko if healthy. and he was clutch in the world series run the marlins had a few years ago.

Derek Lee. Konerko is a good hitter, and hits 30-40 HRs a year, but that's pretty much it. Lee was hurt last year, then his daughter had health problems, but when he's healthy he has the same power numbers as Konerko, is a Gold Glove first baseman, hits for a higher average, and can run. To me, it's no contest.

I would rather have Konerko. When basing it on age its a toss-up, the difference is one year, with Konerko being that year younger. Konerkos lifetime HR's and Batting average are also higher, and the fact that he came up clutch for a team that won the world series doesn't hurt either, but in saying that they are both great players, i just think Konerkos a better one to have on the team

btw... some people think Lee has better average homers?

lifetime Konerko leads in both of those categories, kills lee in RBI's and strikes out a whole lot less
Thanks

Derek Lee

Derek Lee. He possesses power, can hit for average as seen during 2005 when he was batting champ, has speed (especially for a big man around 6'5" 220 or so), and is a gold glover at 1st base. Konerko can hit for power and decent average, but lacks any sort of speed and is average defensively. Plus side for both is that they seem to be good to have in the clubhouse.

Lee has been injury prone and Konerko has just put up great numbers. They both signed last year and compare their seasons. The future of both players is that they are both millionaires no matter what they do. Let's see how this pans out for next year.
