For once in your sorry lives, stop stereotyping the emo subculture, especially when you know nothing about it. Assuming what everyone says is true makes you an ***. It's not just emo people that cut. Others do it as well. Not all emo people cut. I realize other races/cultures have it harder. It's not fair to judge anyone, so why conform with popular opinion? It's amazing how ignorant some of you are. Seriously, grow up and get over yourselves. For those who've been stereotyped for anything, I'm sorry. I've been where you are, and I'm still there. People can really suck.

"Emo" is not a subculture, but a fad created by teenagers who think that they are being different. Its happened many times before with punks, goths, chavs, etc.
You seem to also think that "emos" are a race/culture. Well, they're not. They are neither that popular, important or have enough history to qualify as either a race or culture.
I don't conform to popular opinion and am able to think for myself. Whereas you don't seem to be able to, as you feel the need to be part of a group - "emos". Therefore, its you who needs to grow up. When you are finally mature, you will look back at these so-called "emos" and wander what all the fuss was about.

Yep, people can suck. I agree 100% on that one. Who said anything about the "emo subculture being cutters"? I know cutters that aren't emo or gay or white. I try not to stereotype, then I go and see a movie like Borat and I really have to withdraw from people for a while. The bottom line is, I hear ya!

the emo trend is JUST A TREND! i didnt see soo many "emo" people in the freakin early 90s! suddenly everyone started to become "emo" and cry and whine about really stupid things that no one really cares about. ive also knoticed that many emo kids have a fairly good family life, what are you guys complaining about??? how your "not perfect"? grow up. and people judging each other is a everyday thing. its not just the emo people people judge...its just human nature. im pretty sure youve judge someone or some other subculture too so dont put yourself on a high horse.

Apparently I am not alone in being mildly confused as to just what an 'emo' is. But until you make yourselves known to the rest of society, you will be ignored. You are merely unimportant to us. If you choose to interpret that as being shallow, so be it. Frankly, I could care less. Especially when you get abusive about it.

im not keen on emos either, only because they seem to me (im old) to have popped out over night and have dominated all the ex decent music channels with their music. Its far too popular, whereas once it was a minority that had piercings and listened to rock, metal and punk. They have taken parts of the goth culture, mish mashed em up with scraps from the 80s and are starting a huge trend.Unfortunately i do stereotype and the emo culture to me is a bunch of trendy kids, but maybe thats what people thought about me when i was 16.I dont associate emos with self harming though,i associate them with aiden, side lip piercings, drain pipe jeans and funny hair dos.

I'm not a big fan of the 'emo', but yes I can imagine its hard for you. But you're not asking a question, but rather making a statement. But do you want to know why people are shallow, its from the tv they watch, their friends and family's influence and wahtnot. Ignorance for them is a lifestyle they can't afford to lost because they are too damn lazy to change. You can't do anything about, but you can try to change people's mind in the way they think. More of a sort of mini-communism that actually benefits the people in their own relationship. But it has gotten outrageous at how disturbingly weak-minded people have become. By weak-minded I mean lazy, arrogant, and extremely offensive. So why are people shallow? Why not, you can't stop them...

maybe I'm too old, but I don't actually know what an "emo" is. is it anything like being "goth."
and I am not one to make assumptions, or stereotype nor do I harbor any prejudice to any other races/cultures. I have enough of that directed towards my community.

you yourself are stereotyping right now by your question, saying we are all shallow.

Geez. so many ppl don't know what emo is! They must be older. No offense. Emo to me is like the new version of goth. Its a style of music, clothes, etc...an example of an emo band would be AFI. Look at how the band members look..thats emo.

All of us are shallow??? Pardon me mate...the whole emo culture hasn't been round nearly long enough to gain any depth that I've noticed. That by the way includes both your cutters/non/cutters and anything else that makes you feel "special" and misunderstood!!!

That's bull, emo people stereotype people too. So stop stereotyping people that you think are stereotyping you.
