A passion for business is exactly what's necessary to succeed in sales! Seriously, have you ever thought of selling home improvement products? You do handyman work so you already have a good concept of the principles.
There's a range of possibilities you might get excited to present: windows & doors, gutters, landscaping, pools, etc. And nearly every one of these companies will want a guy who is "mature" but willing to learn and is driven.
Are you driven? Are you okay with doing follow up, working all kinds of hours, and beating out the competition?
Sounds like you'd be a good fit. Really, try sales. Get yourself a small base salary plus commission job. Men can be in sales til they're 70. People see you as experienced and knowledgeble.
Be glad you're a man.:)
Take care!

Sounds like you need direction.
If you are unsure about what you want do maybe it's time you do some research on the industries you have a "passion" for.
This will give you a clear indication on where you can start.
It also sounds like you are a money driven type person. But think about this..."is money the only things that drives you to work hard? Or is money thing only reason why you have a passion for business?"
If you do not want to work in corporate American anymore than think about starting your own business. This will satisfy your passion for busy and of course make money (it may be a while before you break even because new businesses and start-ups do not always break even or make profits in their first year).
Write down your career goals as well as your short-term and long-term goals. And develop a plan of action that you can realistically achieve them without jeopardizing your family and personal life.

Exactly what do you enjoy doing? What type of business do you have a passion for? I do have a business opportunity that would be worth looking into. There are no sales, no cold calling, no stock piling of merchandise, and it is for a stable company that has a proven track record of success. Feel free to contact me if you would like more information! Additionally, if you have some hobbies that you always enjoyed, you could always brainstorm to figure out how your can generate income from those ideas. As the saying goes: "Do What You Love, The Money Will Follow." Best of luck in your endeavors!!

I am 46 and have now got a grip on life and started making exceptional money. I have always had a passion for business too, but have now found one that really lights my fire! If you are willing to put 15 years into doing what I do, I guarantee you will never have to worry about money again.
My outlook is so much brighter now because there's a bright light at the end of the tunnel.

I hear ya, I'm 48 and back in school for a career. It's not easy, but I hope to have a very good paying job when I'm finished. I wished I had found my path earlier, but I had lots of fun jobs before in sales - but the types of sales I did were fun jobs, not good paying ones. It's hard to get hired when you're over 40 today without some degree. The world is very technical now.
Maybe you could run a commercial window washing business or a commercial cleaning business. They always seem to be in demand. You could also consider post-construction cleanup before the new owners move in. Or haul junk away.

First of all, you have to find out what you like to do and what you're good at. Then write out a list of all the things you've done, it doesn't have to be just work related. Then from that list make another list that highlights your strength's and what you found to be enjoyable. Then do some research on it. I did this very thing. Never did I think I'd become a Realtor and do well at it.

get a certification to be an x-ray tech or dental hygenist - things like that only take a yr or 2 to get (from a community colege so they're cheap too), you have to go to school or they won't certify you so you'll have less competition when going to look for work, the hours are pretty decent, and the pay is pretty good

Do you like helping people? Would you take 4 hours a week to learn? Then consider MLM. A website I recommend is www.-network-marketing-works.com to find out what MLM is about. Write me at jade_flowershop@yahoo.com if you want to explore it.

There is this one guy on here who is trying to get people to take surveys for money. You could try that in addition to whatever you decide to do for your day job.
